Grandma Bev

It's hard to believe it has been two weeks since my sweet Grandma Bev went to heaven to be with the Lord. I will remember her for many things, but what sticks out the most was her love for cooking, sharing time with family, and generous heart for buying special gifts for her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She made each of our kids (even baby boy who hasn't come yet!) special fleece blankets that I will treasure always and so many cute outfits that will go in their keepsake box to save for their own children one day. I wish we had been able to visit MN more often, but am so thankful Sophia got to meet Grandma Bev this past summer - she bonded with Grandma & Grandpa so quickly! She loved being at their house, eating a BIG spaghetti & meatball dinner (Grandma's specialty!) and playing with her dolly that Grandma picked out for her.

Sophia and I spent last week up in MN for the funeral and to be with family. It was a hard week for many reasons, but God sustained us physically & emotionally and I will always be thankful we could be there for it. I didn't bring my camera on the trip so pictures/videos of our time can be found on Katie's blog - www.borninseattle2.blogspot.com.

We love you and will miss you, Grandma! It brings me joy to picture you dancing at the feet of Jesus! I will think of you each and every time I make your minestrone soup, cranberry sauce, spaghetti & meatballs, and many other recipes you shared with me! May Sophia develop a love for cooking too as well as Grandma's legacy of sharing good food around the table together!

Putting up Christmas Lights

Sophia enjoyed putting the lights up outside with Eric - and she REALLY liked the colored lights! We put some up in her room which was a big hit! She continues to be our little helper!! :)

Christmas Season!

*warning - long post!*

We had such a fun December this year - Christmas is my favorite time of year and Sophia really got into every aspect of it! Everything from decorations, to celebrating Advent, to opening presents, and Christmas carols - she loved it all and made it more fun than ever. Such a special season to cherish the family we have become over these 7 1/2 years! We loved celebrating with Eric's parents this year too; Sophia enjoyed bonding with them both and we look forward to more time with Mimi & Pops on a regular basis next year. Eric's Grandpa & his wife, DeDe, came all the way from California to be with us on Christmas Day for which we were so thankful.

Opening Advent treat & reading our daily Scripture together as a family

 Christmas Eve

Christmas morning! Sophia enjoying her normal wake up routine - eating oatmeal for breakfast, not yet aware of was waiting for her under the tree in the living room!

Look at that cute smirk as she immediately spots the grocery cart from Pops & Mimi!

Watching a video on Pops' IPad - doesn't she look so grown up here?! Like she is catching up on her email...
Christmas dinner - turkey, sweet potatoes, and many more wonderful sides!

Loving her new apron hand made by Aunt Katie! So cute!
Eric finally getting to play his favorite game - Acquire!
Sophia cutting up some fruits & veggies with her new Melissa & Doug set from Popeye & Nana! She has played with it every day since receiving it!

We are so blessed! Most of all by the gift of our Savior and the celebration of His birth into the world. What a special time of year.

Missed November pics...

A few memories from November...

More fort building with Dad!

Checking out the Black Friday sales paper - anyone who knows Eric knows he loves Black Friday!
